Single Device Timing
The Single Device Timing mode is a way to both time and record the finishers for a race ona single device. It is ideal for smaller races where there is less likelihood of finishers crossing the line simultaneously. If you need a little more control, check out Multi Device Timing.
It is encouraged you also have a backup timer (who can also use this app) but do not upload the data from the primary and gthe backup device.
When you access the screen, you must choose the Race you are going to time to access the Timer.
- Start all Race Options at the same time
- Start Race Options one at a time
- Start one or more Race Options and start all remaining Race Options
Start All Race Options
If you wish to start all Race Options simultaneously, simply press the Green Start All Races button.
If you want to start Race Options individually, read on.
Start Individual Race Options
Press the Start button and the App will tell you the time of day that that Race Option was started, as a reference for you later.
You can then choose to press each Start button individually, or you can start all remaining Race Options by pressing the Start All Races button. In the example below it shows 2 Race Options with an identical Start Time.
The Single Device Timing screen is split into two sections. The top part is a list of Bibs which have not yet crossed the finish line. If you are using different colours in your race options, these buttons will be coloured in line with those race options. It scrolls vertically. When you tap a Bib number, it records that Bib against the time at exactly the time you press it. That bib will then disappear from the list. The recorded time against that finisher then appears in the bottom section, which is also scrollable.
If there are a few finishers crossing the line together and you can't find the number quickly enough, then press the ? button and you can go back and fix it later. You can press ? as many times as you need, but have an assistant handy to make a manual note of the bib.
So in the above example, if the person who crossed the finish line in 2nd position was running in the "Family Half", they would have a finish time of 04:08.84. But if they were in the "Fun Run", then their finish time will be 3:34.02.
Pressing the bib button will make an audible beep on the device (dependent on device audio settings) and also vibrate to give you a physical confirmation that your press has been successful.
Ending a race will end all Race Options, so only do this if you are absolutely sure you want to end the race.
Its entirely possible that during the course of timing a race, you make the odd mistake. Typically you might accidentally press the wrong Bib button, or press one by accident. You can use this section to see how you correct these issues at the end of the race - and some during the race too.
You can actually delete an incorrect time whilst the timer is running or after the race has stopped. But either way you perform the same operation.
Android: Press and hold the time you want to delete, and press the Delete button in the actions bar
iOS: Swipe the time you want to delete and press the Delete button
This is permanent and destructive.but if you accidentally delete a time, you can always Insert it again after the race.
If you entered the wrong bib, or pressed the ? button, you can use the Swap Bib function. This will allow you to set a different bib to the selected time. This can be done whilstt he race is running or after the race has stopped.
You cannot enter a bib that has already finished. Entering a new bib to a timing, will re-add the "old Bib" back into the list of bibs still to finish.
You can only insert a missed time once the Timer has stopped. When it has though, simply enter a time in the boxes and press the button.
Note: The time you enter must be the time relative to the start time of the earliest starting Race Option.
It will insert a time at the relevant place in the list and resort/resequence the finish positions accordingly. As the inserted time is relative to the start of the earliest Race Option, it will calculate what the relevant times are for the other Race Options.
When you are happy with your Timings, you are able to submit them.
When you are in Single Device Mode then you are unable to Batch your Results, so they all get batched together.
When you are ready, press the Submit For Processing button.
This does not publish your results. To process and publish results, click here.
